Four players who were expected to be on N.C. State’s 2009 football roster will not be with the team, the school announced Thursday.
Coach Tom O’Brien announced that sophomore cornerback Dominique Ellis is transferring. Three players who signed with N.C. State in February – Tyson Chandler, Raynard Randolph and Bryan Underwood – will not enroll in the fall.
Ellis played in all 13 games last season. Although he played mainly on special teams, he was considered a promising prospect.
"I appreciate everything the N.C. State coaching staff has done for me and taught me," Ellis said in a statement released by the school. "I learned a lot from them, but at this time, I think that for personal reasons, it’s in my best interest to continue my career at another school."
Chandler is an offensive lineman who was one of the top prospects in New Jersey. Underwood was supposed to add speed at wide receiver, and Randolph plays defensive tackle.

Just another example of Tom O'Brien's waiver wire.
I think you are confused. The high profile coach at a sister institution is the "Waiver Wire Chief". It is a huge difference in having 27 spots available, lose 4, and end up with 23 (TOB) verses over recruiting by 17, setting an NCAA record for medical hardships, dimissing kids from your three deep all in the spirit of that fine sister institution (Waiver wire Chief). Well, got to go! What time is it? 41-10.
Nope, I understand Wuffie hypocrisy just fine. Thanks for taking the bait, moron.
By the way, I've been to PackPride.com and I know that your usage of "Chief" is a racial slur. You are so typical of your fan base.
I've also never heard the "41-10" slight before. It's going to be 2025 and we'll still be hearing that score from State fans. I guess when you have so little else to celebrate...
wow. interesting back and forth. how you get racial slur out of 'waiver wire chief' is quite a stretch. i look forward to hearing you tout your basketball season as soon as butch and the boys are 1-2. the most fair-weather fanbase i have ever seen. (that is, those that ever claim tarheel football in the first place. most just go ahead and jump on miami or ohio state or some other school's coattails for the sport so not not endure the ridicule).
obviously these guys see the writing on the wall and are leaving NCSU because the talent level doesnt have them playing much anymore. still see the typical comments coming from the tarheel fans, probably not alumni, probably havent been to a game in years if at all. but most definitely have a 2009 ncaa championship t-shirt. too bad great coaches and players like roy and hansbrough are represented by such clueless morons that have not contributed anything to UNC but stupid comments on NCSU message boards.
keep on hating! it goes well with baby blue, lmao
i pull for carolina in basketball but not football because they havent won a championship yet. i am from ohio but live in charlotte and went to uncc. i stocked up on shirts, hats, and jerseys and now im the ultimate fan. except when matt dougherty coached. i pulled for duke then just because i like coach K, but i dont like him when the heels are good.
Anyone who thinks the players are leaving because of O'Brien's "waiver wire" or because they don't think NC State measures up is so misinformed. Their reason for leaving is because of the talent coming in and the knowledge that they won't get nearly as much playing time as they could in a lesser program.
