Gamecocks' Saunders incites N.C. State

Former Durham Riverside player Weslye Saunders has provided the first obvious bulletin board material for N.C. State's Sept. 3 season opener against South Carolina.

Saunders, who plays tight end for South Carolina, talked to The (Columbia) State Newspaper and others after practice Tuesday.

"I'm going to talk to Coach (Steve) Spurrier beforehand and see if he's OK if I get a 15-yard penalty," Saunders said. "Because I'm gonna do some sort of extra celebration if I get a touchdown on the Wolfpack."

A junior, Saunders is moving into a more prominent role with the Gamecocks following 2008 starter Jared Cook's early departure for the NFL draft. Saunders, who caught 16 passes for 214 yards and three touchdowns last season, is the only experienced tight end on the team.

If that hasn't gotten N.C. State's attention, his comments Tuesday certainly will.

Why State? He's from Durham, so I guess he grew up close to them, but that sure seems like a lot of venom for just that. Did they recruit him and then stop or something? Or maybe it's just NC schools he doesn't like. Strikes me as strange. Well, not the distaste for State part, but still...

Well the Gamecocks don't play Duke this year, so thats why State.

As a State fan/alum, I don't mind this trash talk. Now had he asked Spurrier if a 15-yard penalty was ok for taking out Russell Wilson's knee, I would have issues with that. But celebrating if he scores? No big deal.

Boy those Chickens are classy and smart. Dance all you want when you score to trim the lead to 35-13.

Well...that is big talk coming off a 34-0 stomping last year.

Tysiac making something bigger than it really is...AGAIN. State probably wouldn't had notice, but Tysiac probably emailed it to States coaches. This clown will do anything to boost up State, kinda like his "why is Carolina ranked and State isn't article a few weeks back". Everything he writes is one-sided and usually short on facts.

you're right 4:55, maybe he should slurp UNC like all the other Observer sports writers

Yeah how dare he not include the Tarheels in the article! We showed the Chickens by not agreeing to play them back in Columbia in the home/home series. He dare not talk smack about the Heels, cause we don't have anything to prove smacking the Chicks around again!

OWNED.

OWNED? To have lost 34-0 last year to the "chickens," it's interesting that the Pack is favored to win.

Again, OWNED? Don't think so.

Remember your not owned statement next time you chirp 41-10 excessively. Yes, you were owned.

Just as the Heels were by your Wolfpack last year in Kenan.

As long as you can take it, you can dish all you want, but don't get your panties in a wad when the "chickens" talk smack, until you settle the score, its 34-0.

And before you come back with some typical State inferior complex answer, see above that I gave NCSU credit for smacking the Heels.

You wanna talk about owned? What happened when the Tar Holes play the Wolfpack last year? Say it with me.... 41-10.

Typical of a program that lacks all integrity and class. I hope the Wolfpack destroy the cocks. Spurrier will be resigning the end of the year after a below .500 SEC record and two ACC losses meaning a stay home for the holidays. Stay classy USC, I know your DL Geathers is!

Come on guys, is that really trash talk? Lets get real. No that will not be bulletin board material. And one guy leaves a comment saying its venom?? This is comical.

Looks like the "Taters" are here on the Observer board. The Geathers remark is about what I expect from you trailor park dwelling neanderthals. Geathers didn't do anything that I am sure YOU haven't done. But according to your Tater rules its ok to have a guy that has beeaten his woman twice start at LB at Klempsun? As far as Saunders remark, he is a good natured kid and has friends that play for State. I think State is gonna have a killer team this year and could very well win the ACC imho. Actually, I hope they do - with a 11-1 record. Go Cocks!

Again? Didn't you lose the last game that was played in Chapel Hill just two years ago? Yeah, that's right you did.

And it's nice to see some Clemson fans around preaching how juvenile the Gamecocks are. Just keep on believing that your beloved Tigers are darling little angels that never get into problems. Santa Clause and the Easter Bunny told me to tell you they said hello.

Anon 8:48, I've never once "chirped" 41-10. It's funny that the people that hate to hear that score the most, are the ones who keep repeating it.
