Heels' Pianalto might play vs. ECU

X-rays have revealed that North Carolina tight end Zack Pianalto's injured right foot is not fractured, and there is a chance that he will play Saturday against East Carolina, the school revealed Monday morning.

Pianalto suffered a subtalar dislocation of his foot during North Carolina's 12-10 win Saturday at Connecticut.

After scoring the game-tying touchdown in the fourth quarter, Pianalto jumped and landed awkwardly on a defender's foot.

North Carolina also has learned the game time for its Sept. 26 game at Georgia Tech. The game will start at noon.

Pianalto dislocated his foot which means that he's not only out for ECU, but most likely done for the season.

What UNC has reported is that there is no fracture. The extent of the injury (impact of the dislocation to the soft tissue) will not be known until Tuesday, at the earliest.

To say that the injury update provided by UNC today indicates that there is a possibility that Pianalto could play on Saturday is like Lloyd from the movie Dumb and Dumber believing he has "a chance" with Mary.

To quote the same movie, "Just when I thought you couldn't possibly be any dumber, you go and do something like this... and totally redeem yourself!"

Seriously, where do you guys come up with this stuff? There is NO CHANCE he returns this weekend, zero, zilch, nada.

He's telling people on campus he'll be out one month, which is optimistic. Most people (at least the ones that don't believe articles like yours with zero factual basis for its statements) are hoping Pianalto returns by mid-season.

And hey JP, 11/28 will be here soon enough - so go ahead and get in all the pot-shots and misinformation you can until then.

Giglio was the only AP voter to have ECU in the top-25 after the near loss to App. St. What is even more hilarious, ECU improved in his poll in week 2 (#21 to #20) after their near defeat. This guy is an absolute joke. I’m not going to comment on anyone’s poll before week 5, but I will comment on idiots like this clearly favoring a team oppose to doing his/her job to rank the top-25 teams. It would be nice to hear him explain how barely beating a Division II school on your home field substantiates a boost in rankings.
