ASU's Edwards 'doubtful' against ECU

It's unlikely Appalachian State star quarterback Armanti Edwards will play Saturday when the Mountaineers open their college football season at East Carolina.

Edwards, the Football Championship Subdivision national player of the year last season, is recovering from a lawnmowing accident earlier this summer that required 35 stitches in his right foot four weeks ago. He returned to practice on Monday but has had limited work.

“He’s really doubtful,” Appalachian State coach Jerry Moore said. “His foot is getting better, but we’re like anyone else. We’re not going to put a guy out there if he’s two-thirds ready to play. I doubt seriously that he’ll play.”

If Edwards does not play, he will likely be replaced by sophomore DeAndre Presley. Last season, Presley played in nine games, getting the start against Western Carolina when Edwards was injured.

Presley accounted for 314 yards of total offense and three touchdowns against Western Carolina. He rushed for 156 yards and completed 16 of 25 passes for 158 yards in the victory.

How long after taking a loss will App Fan start the "We would have won if Armani played" chatter?

That stinks for ASU. ECU will be ready to stomp UNC-CH in Kenan in a few weeks! There will be terrified UNCers in the stands that day. The whine and cheese will flow alongside the tears.

That didn't take long.

1. It's ArmanTi.
2. AE's never been 100% healthy an entire season, and ASU's big wins have come only by way of contributions from everyone, so ASU fans understand it's not all about him at this point (contrary to the rest of the country, which is understandable given his talent).
3. If App State loses, it won't be due to the disparity of QB play. You'll quickly see that Presley's no slouch at QB at all, and they're still loaded with talent at all playmaking positions. The big question for the Mountaineers against ECU is how the defense will respond this year after 2 underwhelming seasons.

Expect a fight with or without AE under center.

What about the Tarheels? How does this effect us?

"What about the Tarheels? How does this effect us?"

Because ECU is looking forward to crushing UNC-CH after dismantling ASU. Can't wait to see the fights in the stands in Kenan!

Ummm...no one cares about UNC football. Sorry

It doesn't "affect" the "Tar Heels". ECU is no more than a footnote in both academics and athletics in the state of North Carolina.

The jealousy and envy of other schools is quite entertaining.

Keep bashing, we love it because it proves your status as inferiors.

ECU fans have already purchased 16,500 of Kenan's seats for 9/19. Good luck containing the craziness that our fans will bring to your baby blue pansied stadium. Go Pirates! Visor Boy Jr. is in deep trouble!

UNC-CH fan -- are you posting from your job as greeter at Walmart? Or are you taking a break from waiting tables? Or delivering pizza? LOL!
