Boise State coach headed to Virginia?

The Charlottesville Daily Progress says Boise State coach Chris Petersen is the leading candidate to replace Al Groh, who's expected to coach his final game for the Cavaliers Saturday against Virginia Tech.

If he's smart he stays at Boise. Going to UVA would be career suicide.

Why would Petersen leave for Virginia? He's spent his entire life on the west coast so he would have no recruiting ties whatsoever and quite frankly, he could get a much better job. What more could he do at Virginia than he's already doing at Boise? The Wahoos aren't winning a national title any sooner than the boys from Boise. If he truly wants to get a better job, he should hold out for a better one such as Cal or Arizona State.

This makes no sense. UVA is light years away from being a contender for the National Championship. But then again, thier choice of Tony Bennett.

On the other hand, he goes to one of the most prestigious schools in the country. They have the infrastructure to have a good team. Up until the Al Groh years, they were ranked pretty much every year. Plus, I'd assume UVa would pay a ton more than Boise St, not to mention the ACC is a better conference.

UVA needs the coach from Richmond. He has done a fantastic job there and is recruiting VA talent like crazy.
