Bowl ticket sales approaching 40,000

Ticket sales for Meineke Car Care Bowl between North Carolina and Pittsburgh Dec. 26 at Bank of America Stadium are approaching 40,000, executive director Will Webb said today.

Bowl officials aren't expecting a large crowd from Pittsburgh but are optimistic the Tar Heels' will bring a solid contingent with them, despite the fact it's the second year in a row they've played in the game.

"North Carolina's ticket sales were good the last few days before the game last year. We're hoping to get that again this year," Webb said.

It goes to show the majority of the of UNC Chapel Hill's fanbase are bandwagon fans. They should have Wal-Mart help sell tickets.

It goes to show that the majority of State fans are more concerned with UNC than they are with their own team. I've never seen such a "pack" of losers in my life.

Pitt is going to crush UNC. Who wants to watch that mess? I still can't believe we lost to State College AGAIN!

In 2003 Pitt was given an allotment of 20,000 tickets for the Meineke Bowl game against North Carolina.

Pitt returned 19,800 of the tickets, unsold.

Pitt doesn't travel and should not have been invited.

What a waste of space! Be quite! Go Heels! And fir Coach Davis if he goes 0-4 against State. Terribe!

This is NOT the Carolina way! It is unacceptable to go 0-4 vs. NCSU! If Coach Davis demands another raise this year, send him away!!!

GO PITT!!!! I'll buy pitt tickets and go to the store and get some PITT gear.

Pitt doesn't deserve this bowl game. Give them the motor city bowl or some other low level bowl that no one cares about.

Most Pitt fans were prepared to go to Sugar Bowl, but the loss to Cincy canceled that. Pitt told Car Care Bowl officials that they did not prefer to go to the Car Care Bowl. Fans will not travel after this disappointing season to Charlotte the day after Christmas to play a middle tier ACC team. Pitt knew this going in, which is why they didnt want the Car Care Bowl. Yet, the Car Care Bowl wanted a ranked opponent for their hometown team that they decreased the ticket allotment Pitt was on hook for this year.

Just a disappointing end to a disappointing season for most Pitt fans.
