Mountaineers healthy as LSU game approaches

BOONE - With their opener at LSU 12 days away, Appalachian State’s Mountaineers continue to push through practice in remarkably good health.

Only one player—defensive back/special teamer Anthony Cruver (thumb injury) - stands to miss the game at this point.

Also still recovering from an ankle injury suffered in last year’s high school playoffs is former Independence High star running back Rod Chisholm. Since the ankle remains sore, there is a strong possibility Chisholm might be redshirted, and in any event, ASU is deep at running back.

The Mountaineers practiced late this morning in Kidd Brewer Stadium with the good taste of the team’s FanFest scrimmage from Saturday still fresh in their mouths.

An estimated 10,000 fans showed up first to get autographs and then to watch, and the offense in particular put on a show, collecting 599 total yards on 15 possessions, with 425 of that coming on the ground.

LSU will CRUSH ASU... 45-10.

ASU will be lucky to get 250 yards of offence.

no way it will happen again! Michigan was a terrible team last year... LSU is a force and will DOMINATE!

good job Olsen, you finally put this article in the appropriate place... since you are talking bout NCAA Football, (not NCAA Basketball in the above the rim blog where this was previously posted)

GO ASU! don't hate!

Oh yeah, U of M was so terrible that they won 8 games in a row towards the end of the year, and 9 of 11. They also finished the year beating a SEC power, not to mention that team was fielding the Heisman Trophy winner. Do I think we will win? I doubt it. But it is possible and how quickly people write us off. Coach Moore and the Apps feed off such criticisms. If you think they won't have something to prove and will play at a high level you are sorely mistaken.

Let everyone keep talking the smack. I will be there to see ASU take it to LSU.

I do not thin LSU will stop Apps offense, they just need to convert opportunities. will it be a route. No. The big key for FCS, (I-AA) teams versus BCS schools is a belief they can win. The only offense that has stopped ASU is the triple option - spread offense, (Remember Georgia Southern & Wofford).

If they keep in close int he first half, I think they can pull off the win.

All these haters. What does somebody have to do to get some respect around here??? Win three straight titles, knock off a high ranked team in whole other division, carve a piece of history??? Apps gona take it to them. And after App wins, I can hear it now, "App got lucky, this and that." Give me a break. I wish I could see everyone's face when App re-writes history. On Aug 30, Appalachian States GONA GET THEM SOME!!!

sorry guys this game will be close... LSU lost som key defensive players, their QB Matt Flyyn is now in Green bay, as is other great Offensive players...like Hester...

While LSU has great recruiting, this will be a REBUILDING year for them. and they will fall short in this one.. i think APP state will win in a thriller like last year by 3 points or so on the final drive, Unless this time the blocked FG is taken to the Endzone for a TD to win by 10!

then again ASU may blowout LSU and stun college football yet again..

ASU fotball, it is time to lay'eth the smack'eth down on the National chUmps.

Go App State!

Unless you're from the SEC and follow the SEC, you have no idea what you are up against. App loses by 2 TDs.
