ASU's Armanti Edwards rejects the 'bling'

Appalachian State QB Armanti Edwards now has two national championship rings, but don't look for them on his fingers.

"They're catching dust on the dresser at home," he said recently. "I don't even like jewelry. I don't have an earring, none of that."

Edwards had an ear pierced in the fourth grade. Then his ninth-grade basketball coach mentioned that anyone who wore an earring would run laps.

"I've never put it back in since then," he said.

Edwards said he thinks his distaste for "bling" came from his father, Freddie Edwards.

"I guess I took after my dad; he probably wore one ring, but no earring, none of that," Armanti Edwards said. "I probably wore my (championship) ring to the (football) banquet. And we have something called Celebrity Serve where some of us go out to the restaurants and serve (to raise money for charity). I probably wore it three or four times this year."

According to the preseason Sports Network poll that is starting Appalachian off as a consensus No.1, that dresser might soon feature another ring, catching dust on that dresser.

Go App State. Its good to see the star of a team not thugged out and getting into trouble. Maybe LSU, Georgia, or USC could learn from this guy and the whole APP STATE team and learn some class and discipline.

Well all this talk about ASU is great! The anonymous who made the stupid negative comments on how many ASU articles were on the blog, obviously is a disgruntled fan of someone like WCU, Furman or the like. He claims to be a SOCON fan, however when NC and the SOCON has a team with the abilities and record of ASU, he is full of discontent. Well, show me another team in the area with THREE CONSECUTIVE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS! Come on, show me! I don't even care if it's in this area or not. ASU is the best football school in NC and one of the best in the Nation, regardless of size (ASU 34 - UM 32). The "Big 4" ACC schools are running from ASU, especially teams like UNC who schedule patsies just to boost their record. What are these disgruntled idiots going to do when Jerry Moore's boys bring home a FOURTH National title in December? GO ASU!

The entire team is letting those rings collect dust. A new season is here with the same objectives. As far as complaining about the "article"; it's a soft piece in a blog, and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize that...but those of you who can't grasp it may have your degree from that institushun in Kullowhee. On a serious note, best of luck against Shorter in your opener.

Wofford and Ga Southern kicked your butts last year...why do those games never come up? Michigan...Michigan...over and over. Give it a break.
