LSU coach: ASU talented, but we'll be prepared

LSU coach Les Miles - and his players - have watched a whole lot of Appalachian State-Michigan tape.

Miles, speaking on a conference call today, gave the Mountaineers no bulletin board material as the two teams complete preparation for their game in Baton Rouge, La., Saturday night.

"Absolutely," Miles said when asked if he had shown the huge upset to his players. "That's a great example for our team, that they've played quality teams well and played them on the road. We've seen a lot of the Michigan game."

Miles was nothing but complementary when talking about Appalachian State.

"We like that we're playing a talented opponent," Miles said. "Our guys prepared very, very well based on that. ...They've (ASU) made a tradition of playing great teams. They played N.C. State. They played Auburn very well."

Listening to the call, you could tell Miles and his guys are ready to play. Every Tiger is healthy (with one exception, whom Miles wouldn't name), and it was obvious Appalachian State won't be sneaking up on LSU, which might have been part of the problem for Michigan.

The Tigers could play as many as three quarterbacks in the game, Miles said.

Three - sophomore Andrew Hatch, redshirt freshman Jarrett Lee and freshman Jordan Jefferson - have been taking snaps during practice. But while quarterback is a questionmark, LSU appears to be loaded elsewhere.

Quarterback is questionable, but they are fine everywhere else? The question is can LSU stop ASU's Armanti Edwards . The last time the teams met, LSU won 24- 0.

ASU did not have Edwards, and still played mistake free football. They just were unable to close the deal in the readzone, even with a 32:31 to 27:29 minute advantage in time of possession.

You Appy State people are delusional. Let's look closer at 2005 since you so fondly bring it up over and over. LSU has 21 first downs, just shy of 400 yards of offense, and punted only 4 times. They opened up a 2 touchdown lead in the second quarter and coasted. Appy had the ball a lot because Appy almost always needed 3 downs for a first down, but typically failed and had to punt (9 times). Get over it. 24-0 isn't a close game.

Oops, sorry...my fault, only 7 punts.

According to the drive by drive box score, Appy reached the red zone only one time, and that was late in the third quarter, missing a 33 yeard field goal. Other than than that, they were barely past midfield.

I think someone else needs to get over it. App will beat the pants off of LSU.

First of all, I'm pulling for ASU, but to beat LSU at home would be a much larger upset than beating Michigan last year. LSU is in the SEC and one of the top teams in the country. Michigan was very over-rated last year. The size and speed will be too hard to overcome. I don't think it will be that close. I hope I'm wrong.
