ASU QB: LSU will be louder than Michigan

Appalachian State quarterback Armanti Edwards said that playing at LSU Saturday will not be the same as playing at Michigan last season, where the Mountaineers upset the Wolverines.

"We've got a couple of players who played there as freshmen or sophomores," he said on a morning conference call, referring to the Tigers' 24-0 victory in 2005. "They told us it'd be a lot louder than Michigan. We're working on going on the silent (snap) count and not getting confused by the fans.

"The whole world is going to be watching us. They told me about the atmosphere and what to expect.'

The Mountaineers also know that unlike Michigan, LSU will be ready for their spread offense, which opens up the field.

"The passing game will have quick throws to get the ball out as quick as we can," Edwards said. "Run away from them and hope they get tired by the second half."

A number of observers believe that Baton Rouge will bring a heat and humidity that could overwhelm Appalachian State. Edwards, who has been training in cooler Boone, doesn't see that as a problem.

"No sir," he said. "The air's pretty thin here, so I think we'll be better when we get off the mountain."

Ok Appy fans, go ahead and start with the "we almost beat LSU last time" delusions. But first, revisit the box score and remind yourselves that except for one lone missed field goal you played the game on your side of the field while LSU explored its depth.

To the guy who called us "Appyfans" you forgot the dropped touchdown pass......This game will be a war. Anyone who thinks differently does not know our program.

I'm definitely an LSU fan but I don't want them to under-estimate ASU. No one can discount the 3 National Championships back to back for ASU. But on the other side, LSU has 3 National Championships within the last 4 or 5 years. GEAUX TIGERS!!!!!!!!

ASU is way out of their league with LSU. They are way to fast, any of the top few teams from subdivision could give Big 10 teams a go if they give it their all because subdivision players are the guys that are a little underweight or a little to short and come to play with a chip on their shoulder.

LSU is ready for Armanti and the boys...I think Appy St. will hang with us through the 2nd half of the 3rd quarter, then LSU's depth, conditioning,& talent will pull away. No doubt, we'll chase Armanti a bit on Saturday, but it won't make any difference in the outcome. Here's to a great game, cleanly played and no injuries for anyone! Geaux Tigers
