Reserve linebacker William Beasley no longer is a member of N.C. State's football team, coach Tom O'Brien said today.
Beasley, a sophomore from Milton, Fla., played four snaps against Western Carolina on Sept. 4 in the only appearance of his career with the Wolfpack.
"He didn't uphold his being a champion in the classroom or the community part, so he can't get on the football field," O'Brien said.
Beasley redshirted in 2008 and did not play in 2009.

C'mon Coach O'Brien, Butch Davis would give this kid a chance, and let him play and worry about punishment after the season ends. Coach Davis make a lot more money than O'Brien and does it the Carolina Way, why not the same thing at State?
LOL! that pretty much sums it up!
O'Brien and NCSU do things the right way. We wont be the ones left holding the bag of self serving Pooh after the season is over
NCSU has never done things the right way and everyone knows that. Maybe O'Brien is trying to change things. I hope so. This article is about NCSU not UNC. It is sad how inept State fans feel about their great University.
Actually, I think UNC fans are the ones feeling a bit inept these days. I would say Raleigh feels pretty good about now for multiple reasons. 100 years of corruption in Chapel Hill is FINALLY seeing the light of day. I thought this day would never come. There is a storm on the horizon
TOB takes this character and responsibility requirement too far. The reason the athletes are admitted is because they can play ball really good. Glad that this crap doesn't happen in Chapel Hill and fans get to see good football without those stupid distractions. He should transfer to Carolina to play and win the Carolina Way!!!
too funny!
The article is about O'Brien kicking a guy off the team for a presumed lack of character, and all State fans want to talk about is UNC and how much character their coach has in comparison. Did you miss the part where he was kicking a player he recruited off his team? Your priorities AND your logic are off. How like State fans...
Us State fans are just using humor as a coping mechanism to deal with the loss of a player. Thanks guys, you're comments have helped me get through this.
See there - everything isn't about UNC, their ego's just think it is
It's not like he took a gift or trips from an agent, tweeted his life to the world, or had his tutor do his work? What gives? Why is the State coach such a hard @ss on the players he recruits. He's acting like a Marine Colonel and not like a great NCAA & NFL coach like Coach Davis. I guess he is a control freak and doesn't respect indvidual rights, the Carolina Way!
