North Carolina is ranked No. 18 in the USA Today coaches' poll, which is posted today on the newspaper's web site.
Defending national champion Alabama is ranked No. 1, followed by Ohio State, Florida, Texas and Boise State.
North Carolina, which has five preseason All-ACC selections after going 8-5 last season, is one of five ranked ACC teams. Virginia Tech (No. 6), Miami (No. 13), Georgia Tech (No. 17) and Florida State (No. 20) also are ranked.

1. UNC players may have received benefits from agents totaling tens of thousands of dollars.
2. UNC has one player in particular that appears to have received benefits AND may have also
acted as a runner for the agent(s) by luring other athletes to attend parties.
3. UNC has an assistant coach (and recruiting coordinator) that is "best" friends with an agent in question.
4. This assistant coach was the position coach for a former UNC football player (now in the NFL) and is MA's position coach.
5. The NFL player is represented by the same agent in question.
6. MA has been seen multiple times driving a vehicle owned by the NFL player.
7. MA has flown to a private training facility in California owned by the agent.
8. MA has posted pictures and updates all-over twitter to show his infatuation with food and how he parties like a rock star.
9. One of the investigators working for the NCAA is a UNC graduate and former football player.
10. There are rumors involving 2 UNC players demanding a fee just to talk with an agent.
