Four UNC football players enroll early

UNC added four freshmen to the football program, including some much-needed help on the offensive line.

Tackles James Hurst and T.J. Leifheit enrolled early to get a head start on their freshman season, as did cornerback D.J. Bunn and tight end Sean Fitzpatrick.

Offensive line was a concern, both talent- and injury-wise all season for the Heels. They have to replace senior starters Kyle Jolly and Mike Ingersoll. Hurst, from Plainfield, Ind., and Leifheit, from Wilmington, are considered two of the best offensive line prospects in the country.

Scout.com ranks Hurst No. 2 in the country at tackle, and rates him a five-star prospect, and Leifheit as the 19th-best tackle in the class of 2010.

Bunn, from Smithfield, committed to UNC in 2009 but spent the past season at prep school at Hargrave Military.

too bad we won't here about these kids are good students and able to graduate high school early, but yet how Butch ran players off. Kudos to these guys for getting qualified and their studies in order to allow them to opportunity to go to college early.

I just read the article above on them, so I'm not sure what you are talking about?

state fans haven't shown up yet.

Unfortunately that's the rules we have to play with...a school only has so many scholarships, so they have to rescind some to make room for others.
Every school does it (NCSU)...

If their scholarship is rescinded, they can enroll in another school without penalty.
Womble will be just fine, probably go to a JUCO and be a star, maybe even get discovered and end up in the NFL some day.

These guys want to get there early and get some extra practice in. Losing the Meineke Bowl takes time.

"Kick 5 off. Take 4 in. Simple math. Screw the kids....I'm trying to win."

does anyone ever blame the kids? Butch can't go to class for them, he can't work out for them, he can't hold their hands when they go out at night and get in trouble.

my lord, blame the kids.

With all of this going on, UNC may actually win the Meineke Bowl next year instead of losing it for a third year in a row.

"blame the kids" for ? Only one kid is having academic issues - Wobble. It's the other's...starting OL guys from last year, starting qb Sexton, etc...that he has run off, to make room. To blame them bc he is a win at all cost idiot - thugs he recruits now - would be improper.

So with all the booing of Yates, is he coming back or transferring?

Even if our defense is as good as hyped, how can we win more than 6 games if the defense is always on the field? Until we get a qb, next year is going to be bad. And the year after, terrible!

You can add Brandon Willis to the list. As he has enrolled at UNC, after decommiting from Tennessee.

So you were Brandon Willis's second choice, but wearing it with pride. I love it! Do any of you UNC fans have any backbone or are you all jellyfish?

State fan, Derek Morris (from Amato era) says, hi!!

you remember, shunned State of Ohio St, screwed up and came BACK to State. Welcomed with open arms no?

gimme a break.

Meineke 4 LIFE! said...

He shunned OSU to go to NCState. I don't remember at coaching change at OSU that forced him to "checkdown." LOL.

BTW - The Marine says, "hello" to Butch.

3-0 baby. Now, talk about how UNC is State's superbowl and how UNC is trying to win National Championships.

NEWS FLASH - if you cannot beat NC State or run the table in the ACC, you won't get that chance. Which takes us back to the first point - "3-0 baby."

Let's see. I think VT, GT, and Miami will definitely be in front of UNC-CH next year, so sorry UNC-CH.

Can anyone spell that posts this stuff? I'm a heels fan and I'm just glad the program is actually trying to move forward in the right way. Kiffen leaving UT in a cloud of toxic waste and heading back to USC to a school he left after poisoning it? Stuff like that makes me thankful that UNC has some sort of standards.
