UNC spring football game information, Charlotte scrimmage

CHAPEL HILL — A couple of quick North Carolina spring football tidbits for you on this Wednesday:

First: UNC’s spring football game will be April 14 at 3 p.m. at Kenan Stadium. The game will be broadcast on ESPN3.com, and admission is free. Some more information:

--There will be a pregame “Street-fest” on Stadium Drive, with live music from Liquid Pleasure and Chase Rice, a former UNC linebacker who’s now a country music artist.

--Stadium Drive will be blocked off from South Road to Gate 2 of Kenan Stadium. Amid that stretch will be food vendors, merchandise tents and interactive games.

--There will also be an autograph session with coaches and players. Stay tuned for a complete schedule at some point soon.

Second: UNC will host an open scrimmage in Charlotte on April 5 at Mallard Creek High at 6:30 p.m. Admission is free, and there will be some Bojangles food available for purchase.

Said UNC coach Larry Fedora, in a statement: “I’m excited about the opportunity to take the Carolina football team to Charlotte for an open scrimmage. We are reaching out to our fans and alums in the Charlotte area and encouraging them to get a first-hand look at our football team.

“Charlotte has always been an important area for Carolina athletics in many aspects.”

The Rams Club and the UNC athletic department will host a football tailgate at 5 p.m. at Mallard Creek High, and Fedora will make an appearance there. Parking is free.

UNCC has a football program? What happened to the basketball program?? Joke either way! Lol....

UNCC athletics is general is a complete joke! Holla!!

Yeah I think it has more to do with Recruiting than being afraid of a football program that doesn't exist today.

Recruits will not want to go to UNCC to play football. Get excited to play Troy or Wingate? Really??

Hide your wallets!!! UNC Cheat players will be in town.

The 49ers will announce a FBS conference by July. Next stop SEC.

OK, im a 49er fan but seriously, joining the SEC? I hope that was the biggest joke/sarcastic comment ever made or you need serious mental help!

Anyone who thinks its just a coincidence that the Holes are coming to Charlotte for this (for the first time ever and doing so at the closest HS to the Charlotte campus) and it has nothing to do with the 49ers starting a team is absolutely clueless.

UNC-CHeat: CONvicted and sentenced for cheating. Enjoy your sanctions.

I won't be going back to Kenan. I barely recognize the place and it isn't a very good game day experience. Kinda like taking a shower in a raincoat. The sleaze factor adds. I love my University, just disgusted with them all right now.

It's funny all the UNCC future football fans are on here talking about UNC-Cheat this and that...UNC will have more wins this year than UNCC will have in the next 20...sucks to be a 68er fan! Lol...trolls

Who does UNCC have to play in football...Wingate, Gaston College, CPCC? Just curious...they might want to schedule a game against Butler or Indy?

UNCC gets to play Fordam and Temple...get it right! We may get to play Duke in football one day.

At least when UNCC does win, it will be done honestly. I seriously doubt any real UNC grads are on here defending the dirty deeds.

One man ruined the UNC football program. He should be hanged in public.

UNC-CHeat. One person did not ruin it, as many people were culpable. What a shameful mess.

The Kenan stadium UNC experience is sad. Lackluster and boring. There are plenty of good venues in the ACC, but UNC is not one of them. I bet the atmosphere at UNCC will be much better, as that school is excited about their new found sport. I think the next three years at Chapel Hill will be dark, sad, and even more boring than it's been in the past.

UNCC is a garbage school for athletes that can't get in Power Conference Schools like the ACC or SEC because of either low SAT scores or because they are not talented enough. You know it's true. Look at the non-existent basketball program. Football will be terrible for 20-30 years, and the soccer team couldn't even beat UNC-Cheat there either...Sad. Just sad. Lol....

UNCC needs to drop the UNC part. It should be called Charlotte College...Lol..

UNC football is a joke...cheat, but still lose.

The is a great move by Coach Fedora. If UNC wants to get the top players in the state, it starts in Charlotte with Butler and Mallard Creek.

this is good news. chapel hill is making moves in hopes than charlotte does not become the best college football program in NC. it will happen regardless. right now, football in NC is not good and ripe for the taking! Niner Football!

Niner Nation will be there too! #ourterritory

Great news! When the 1500 fans show up, the aluminum bleachers won't be so noticeable. Go Heals!

Mallard Creek? I'm not going to Mallard Creek H.S.; the area isn't safe!

Sheez, Jerry wouldn't let you Tar Holes borrow The Bank? I guess you didn't give him a bowl of soup with your new hat...or Fedora.

Why does it really matter? You're not going to any bowl game, and since you fired Coach Davis, the Tar Heel football program will sink back into oblivion.

Stay in Chapel Hill, you powder blue pansies.

Anyone who attends a UNC football scrimmage must be seriously bored. Get a life, people!

Wonder if the UNCheat Athletic Department will fudge the attendance numbers again at the spring game (to make it look like people care).
